Welcome to the Sukanen Museum Fire Collections

The Sukanen Museum Fire Collections is a sub group within the Sukanen Ship & Pioneer Village Museum. It was formed in 2001 when a group of museum members, who all either collected or had an interest in fire fighting related items, got together to create a place where the history of firefighting could be preserved and displayed.

In the years since then, the group has raised money through various functions and built a 1920's style fire hall on the museum grounds to house and display all the small items which have been donated. They have also acquired over a dozen fire trucks, both museum owned and member owned, for display. Unusual items in the collection include a horse drawn hose wagon, City of Winnipeg combination police/fire call box, working ARP trailer and a 1920 Stutz Fire Truck.

The next big project that they are working on is to create a building to house and display all the fire trucks safely out of the weather and to restore several of the Fire Trucks back to their original condition. To this end, they are seeking sponsorship for both projects. If you would like to make a donation toward any of these projects please contact the museum and tell them you would like to make a donation to the Sukanen Museum FIre Collections.
